Heraclius (610 - 641 CE)

Heraclius (5 October 610 – 11 January 641). Flavius Heracles Augustus and his father, Heraclius the Elder, successfully led a revolt against the cruel usurper Phocas starting in 608. He founded the Heraclian dynasty and introduced Greek as the official language. His early achievements laid the foundation for the future greatness of the empire.
