Trajan (27 January 98 - 9 August 117CE). Although Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus Augustus is best known for his extensive building programs in Rome, he was an able military leader conquering a number of regions and adding provinces to the Roman Empire. While returning to Rome from his campaigns, he died of a stroke on August 9, 117, and was deified by the Senate. He was the second of the "Five Good Emperors."
