Carus (282 - 283CE)

Carus (282 - July or August 283CE). Praetorian Prefect Marcus Aurelius Carus was proclaimed Augustus by the army upon Probus' assassination. He defeated the Persians, but was unable to follow up his victories because he was killed by lightning or disease in 283.
