Julia Soaemias, mother of Elagabalus (died 11 March 222CE). Julia Soaemias Bassiana was the daughter of Julia Maesa, sister of Julia Mamaea and mother of Elagabalus who ruled the empire during the minority of her son. She was assassinated by the Praetorian Guard together with Elagabalus on March 11, 222. Their bodies were dragged through the streets of Rome and thrown into the Tiber River. Damnatio memoriae was decreed.
