Tiberius II Constantine (578 - 582)

Tiberius II Constantine (26 September 578 - 14 August 582). Flavius Tiberius Constantinus was regent under Justin II for 4 years, and ruled jointly with him for 9 days in September 578 until Justin's death at which time he became sole emperor. During his reign, he gave away 7,200 pounds of gold annually and reduced the empire to poverty. He named General Maurice his heir and gave his daughter, Constantina, to him for marriage. He died of illness or poison in August 582.
